In a testament to his unwavering commitment to philanthropy, Ron Neal of The Neal Estate Group in Victoria, B.C., has been named the No. 1 Top Giving Agent for 2025 by Rate-My-Agent.com. This prestigious new ranking is a significant development in the industry, shifting the focus to recognize and celebrate real estate agents based on their verified financial contributions to registered Canadian charities.
Rate-My-Agent.com, a well-regarded review and ranking platform for professionals in real estate, mortgage, and insurance, has taken a commendable step by creating this award. For Ron Neal, this recognition is the culmination of a lifelong philosophy centered on service and support. “I believe that it is the responsibility of those who can to help those who cannot,” Neal stated. This simple yet powerful belief is the driving force behind his professional and personal endeavors. “My greatest joy and fulfillment comes from helping others,” he added, a sentiment that is clearly reflected in his extensive history of community support in the Victoria area. The Top Giving Agent award not only honors Neal’s individual generosity but also sets a new benchmark for social responsibility within the Canadian real estate sector, encouraging others to integrate philanthropy into the core of their business models.
Lacing Up for a Cause: Cornerstone Realtors Score Big for Hockey Helps the Homeless
Demonstrating remarkable teamwork both on and off the ice, members of the Cornerstone Association of Realtors made a significant impact at the Hamilton/Burlington Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament on April 10. The event was made even more memorable as Team Cornerstone was joined by former NHL player Michael Zigomanis, whose presence added a professional flair and helped draw attention to the cause. The funds raised will directly support vital programs run by the YMCA of Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford, which are on the front lines of combating homelessness in the region.
Specifically, the proceeds will benefit two key initiatives. The first is the YMCA’s Men’s Residence, a crucial facility in Hamilton that provides safe, transitional housing for over 175 men. The second is the Youth in Transition program, which offers a lifeline to vulnerable individuals aged 16 to 24. This program provides comprehensive support, helping youth secure stable housing, pursue education, find employment, and access essential mental health services.
Rochelle Edwards, the team’s co-captain, eloquently captured the spirit of the day. “Playing in Hockey Helps the Homeless means more than just a day on the ice — it’s about coming together as a community to create a real impact off the ice,” she explained. “Our team showed up, represented our profession, competed hard, and most importantly, played for something bigger than ourselves.” Her words reflect a deep understanding that community involvement is about collective action and shared responsibility.
A Legacy of Leadership: Vancouver’s Sid Koshul Receives Realtors Care Award
Greater Vancouver Realtors (GVR) has recognized one of its most dedicated community leaders, bestowing the prestigious Realtors Care Award upon Sid Koshul of Oakwyn Realty Ltd. The award, presented on April 7, celebrates Koshul’s exceptional volunteer leadership and his profound community impact over the past year.
Koshul’s contributions are both extensive and diverse. He played a pivotal role as the chair of QMUNITY’s capital campaign, an ambitious project to build a new, purpose-built 2SLGBTQ+ community centre in the heart of Vancouver. Under his expert guidance, the campaign not only met but surpassed its original $3.2-million goal, ensuring the creation of a vital safe space for the community. His leadership also extended to the Dr. Peter Centre’s Pride Kickoff event, a fundraiser he has been involved with for years. This event alone has raised approximately $500,000 over the last five years to support compassionate HIV/AIDS care.
Beyond these significant achievements, Koshul demonstrates his passion for the arts by serving as the co-chair of Ballet BC’s Ambassador Group, further illustrating the breadth of his commitment to enriching the cultural fabric of Vancouver.
Raman Bayanzadeh, GVR Chair, praised Koshul’s remarkable efforts. “Sid’s leadership reflects the best of what it means to be a Realtor,” Bayanzadeh said. “His ability to connect people, inspire giving, and create lasting impact in the community embodies the spirit of the Realtors Care Award.” This award not only honors Koshul’s personal dedication but also highlights the integral role that GVR members play in fostering vibrant, supportive, and inclusive communities across the region.
Building Stronger Communities: CREB Realtor Foundation Opens $360,000 in Housing Grants
The CREB Realtor Community Foundation (CRCF) is once again stepping up to address one of the most pressing issues in its region by opening applications for its Community and Transformation grants. Beginning May 1, the foundation will be accepting proposals from non-profit organizations, with a substantial $360,000 in total funding available this year to support local housing and shelter initiatives in Calgary and surrounding areas.
The foundation’s grant program is strategically divided into two streams to address a range of needs. The Community Grants are designed to fund major repairs or significant renovations to existing housing or shelter facilities, ensuring these critical spaces remain safe, functional, and dignified for residents. The Transformation Grants target smaller-scale renovation projects that aim to enhance the quality of housing for vulnerable populations, improving their daily living conditions and overall well-being.
Non-profit organizations dedicated to housing solutions are encouraged to review the eligibility guidelines and submit their applications between May 1 and June 30, 2026, via the CREB website. This funding represents a direct investment by Calgary’s real estate community into the long-term stability and health of their city.
Christian Twomey, chair of the CRCF, emphasized the deep-rooted connection between realtors and the communities they serve. “CREB Realtors are deeply connected to the communities they serve,” he explained. “Through these grants, CREB members are proud to support local organizations working every day to keep people housed and improve housing conditions for those who need it most.” This initiative is a powerful example of how a professional organization can mobilize its members to create tangible, lasting solutions to complex social challenges like housing insecurity.
